11 Myths about the battery of your cell phone that we still believe

Most modern cell batteries, such as those from Samsung or Apple, are lithium-ion batteries. They load faster, weigh less and have a longer life, but still believe in the ancient myths of old batteries:

Myth 1: "If you charge your phone all night can ruin your battery or explode"

Currently phones and The chargers have built-in an intelligent automatic lock that detects when the battery is fully charged, turning it on again when it needs to continue charging.

Myth 2: "You have to fully discharge the battery before recharging it"

False, lithium ion batteries have a limited number of full charge cycles, but if you charge your battery when it is 90% to reach 100% you use 1/10 of this cycle. On the contrary, it is better to charge your phone before the low battery warning begins.

Myth 3: "It is recommended to calibrate the battery"

Currently the phones include an automatic calibration of the battery, but it is advisable to do it manually at least once a month, that is, spend the battery and charge it from 0 to 100% to calibrate it.

Myth 4: "Unofficial chargers destroy the life of your battery"

The ideal is to use the charger that comes included when you buy your phone, the generic chargers affect the voltage fluctuations damaging the charging port, and even affecting your battery.

Myth 5: "You do not have to use your phone while it is charging"

If you use an original or good quality charger, you can use your phone without problems while charging, but you must wait at least 10 minutes for it to load and work properly.

Myth 6: "It is not necessary to turn off the phone from time to time"

Telephones like any device need from time to time "rest", so it is recommended that you turn off at least once a week for a few hours . Restarting the cell phone solves errors in the system and preserves the useful life of the battery.

Myth 7: "It loads faster in airplane mode" Airplane

mode turns off 3G and Wifi functions, among other functions, but the difference to load it is minimal. According to a small test, the difference to charge a 10% battery in both modes was 1 minute.

Myth 8 "It loads slower in the computer"

The speed for your mobile to charge depends on the electrical power of the accessories you will use to charge it. An iPhone charger has 5 watts of power while a USB cable for your computer only has 2.5 so it will take longer as well.

Myth 9 "You must charge your mobile for 8 hours the first time you use it"

As we mentioned before, your phone will cut the charge when it is at 100%, keep it connected for more, it does not matter, the phone comes with a battery, normally sold out halfway through the manufacturing tests that happened before it reaches your hands.

Myth 10: "An app can kill your battery faster" Totally true, some applications work in the background and consume your battery without you noticing, up to 20% for some apps. Myth 11: "Searching for a Wi-Fi network is draining my battery" Searching for a network requires energy, but not enough to start noticing, that does not mean you should turn off the Wi Fi browser every time you leave your house , are functions that use very little battery.

Tip: The ideal charge for a lithium ion battery is between 20% and 80% of its capacity. Keeping it within these parameters will keep the battery life optimal.

Tip: Keep your phone away from sources of heat, or cold, the battery is very sensitive to this, do not leave it under the sun or near an oven.
